Fishing Minnesota Lakes

My husband is planning a fishing trip to northern Minnesota this summer, any suggestions?
My husband and some friends want to go fishing in June, public fishing is most often what we are losing. Walleye and smallmouth bass are high in your list. They are perhaps going to have to rent boats unless you go ahead and take the bottom flat. Any suggestions would be appreciated because they have difficulties in reducing their choice of lakes to choose both. Thanks
You're right there are many to choose from. The best place I've ever met looking for rental accommodation, lakes, etc. is www.exploreminnesota.com Minnnesota has many state parks and many have cabins Cheap / camping and also rent boats http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/index.html first things I decided to do if you want to be in a lake at all times, small or large lakes. There Alexandria area chain of lakes that may remain in place quickly and easily in many different lakes by boat. This small lakes and no matter how long you can fish. If you choose a larger as Leech Lake, Mille Lacs or Lake of the Woods (which are all Great Lakes), you may be limited by the wind depending on where you are in the lakes. We loved to camp in the area of Otter Tail County. There are some of the clearest lakes in Minnesota. Otter Tail Lake continues to produce some great fishing. Brainerd area is also another area, but tourism. I would stay away from Twin Cities area. There are many people and very dark lakes. I also would like to stay north of I94. If you are south of Willmar area may have good locations, but it's worth a few hours driving further north. Despite the Boundary Waters and forests can be beautiful is not necessary to go so far to enjoy what you have to MN offer. Hope that helps! Enjoy your holidays!
